Treatment costs and billing in Munich
The private practice bills according to the German Physicians’ Fee Schedule (GOÄ). This page provides indicative fees for common services and explains invoicing, reimbursement and payment.
Who pays for treatment
- Private insurance and Beihilfe recipients: You receive an invoice under GOÄ and submit it to your insurer or Beihilfe office. Reimbursement depends on your policy.
- Self-paying patients: You cover the costs yourself and receive the same invoice.
- Patients with statutory health insurance: Treatment as a self-paying patient is possible. You cover the costs yourself; statutory health insurance does not reimburse them.
Billing under GOÄ
GOÄ sets a fee for each medical service. The practice bills at 3.5 times the base rate, with the justification stated on the invoice. Private insurers and Beihilfe offices reimburse this rate in full or in part, depending on your policy. We recommend checking the extent of reimbursement with your insurer or Beihilfe office before treatment begins.
